Pap: Manila Central Post Office, Taken 1946/1947 in Manila, Philippines

Thomas Alexander Piotrowski, Sr._1946-47_Manila, Philippines_12These servicemen are standing in front of the Manila Central Post Office located along the Pasig River in the Intramuros district of Manila (the historic district).  Built in 1926, the neoclassical style building was designed by architect Juan Arellano.   Incredibly, this historical building still stands today, after enduring World War II and being rebuilt in 1946, but it may be converted into a luxury hotel, according to recent news reports.

  1. Thanks for posting these details June. I really don’t know much about Manila besides what I’ve been able to research online, gather from some great contacts I’ve made and of course, from what my pap can remember. Any additional information you can contribute about these places is much appreciated! 🙂
