Picking back up with my daily photo posts, here begins a series of photos from my maternal grandfather’s stint in the Army of the United States (remember, that’s the draft force of the U.S. Army).
Pap was drafted on February 13, 1946 and completed his basic training at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, which is the army’s oldest active proving ground, or weapons testing area. This shot was taken at Aberdeen on April 16, 1946, according to my grandmother’s notes on the back of the photograph.
Grammie also noted, “Boy do youns look sweet. Especially my honey.” So cute, especially with the Pittsburghese.
